Clock Repair & Service at Clockworks Emporium
At Clockworks Emporium, we believe a clock is often much more than a way to tell time. It may be a family heirloom, a reminder of someone special, a treasured antique, or simply a clock whose familiar tick and chime has been part of your home for years.
That's why our motto is simple:
Preserving Memories.
Our Clock Repair Services
We specialize in the service and repair of many types of clocks, including:
Grandfather & floor clocks
Mantel clocks
Wall clocks
Cuckoo clocks
Mechanical clocks
Musical clocks
Battery-operated & quartz clocks
SEIKO, Rhythm and other musical & motion clocks
Antique, vintage & modern clocks
Please note: We do not currently service anniversary/400-day clocks.
Because every clock is different, repairs are evaluated individually based on the clock's age, condition, movement, previous repairs, parts availability, and the amount of work required.
House Calls Throughout Middle Tennessee
We proudly provide house-call clock service throughout Middle Tennessee.
House calls start at $100 within a 20-mile radius of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
For locations beyond the included 20-mile radius, an additional $1.50-per-mile travel charge applies to mileage beyond the included area and is calculated round trip.
For longer-distance appointments, we may provide a predetermined travel quote before scheduling.
The house-call fee covers travel, the scheduled service visit, and a basic assessment of your clock. Repair labor and replacement parts are additional.
Local Drop-Off Service
Smaller clocks can often be dropped off by prior arrangement in the Murfreesboro area.
Our standard drop-off bench/diagnostic fee is $50. If you approve the recommended repair, the $50 diagnostic fee will generally be credited toward the repair cost.
This provides an economical option for mantel clocks, cuckoo clocks, musical clocks, wall clocks, and other clocks that can easily be transported.
Typical Repair Pricing
We understand that one of the first questions customers have is:
"How much is this going to cost?"
Unfortunately, there's no single answer because two clocks that look nearly identical can require completely different repairs.
As a locally owned small business, we work hard to keep our repair rates reasonable and competitive while providing the personal attention your clock deserves.
The following are examples of our typical pricing and are intended to help customers understand what they might expect:
Minor adjustments & simple repairs — starting at $75
Basic mechanical clock service — starting at $95
Time-only mechanical clock repairs — starting around $125
Two-train strike clock repair/overhaul — typically $195–$225
Three-train/chiming clock repair/overhaul — typically $275–$325
Two-weight cuckoo clock repair/overhaul — typically $225–$250
Three-weight or musical cuckoo repair/overhaul — typically $275–$325+
Quartz/battery movement replacement — $60–$75 labor plus parts
Musical or animated battery clock repairs — starting at $75 plus parts
Grandfather clock minor repairs/adjustments — typically $100–$175+
Grandfather clock movement overhaul — typically $425–$475+
Movement replacement — replacement movement cost plus approximately $175–$300 labor, depending upon the clock and installation required
These prices are guidelines only and are not guaranteed quotes.
Antique, heavily worn, complicated, previously damaged, or improperly repaired clocks may require additional labor. Replacement parts are additional unless specifically included in your estimate.
Estimates & No Surprise Major Repairs
Once we evaluate your clock, we'll explain what we believe is needed and provide an estimated repair cost.
Antique and vintage clocks sometimes reveal additional problems once the movement is disassembled, cleaned, adjusted, or tested.
If we discover that your clock requires additional repairs, labor, or parts beyond those originally authorized, we'll provide an updated repair quote for your approval before proceeding with the additional work.
We believe customers should understand what they're authorizing and what they're paying for.
Replacement Parts & Special Orders
Depending on the clock and availability, replacement parts may be new manufacturer parts, aftermarket components, refurbished or rebuilt parts, used components, or new-old-stock parts.
If parts must be ordered specifically for your clock, Clockworks Emporium may require some or all of the cost of the replacement part to be paid before the order is placed.
This is handled on a case-by-case basis and is primarily determined by the cost of the part, availability, supplier requirements, shipping costs, and whether the component must be specially ordered.
Higher-cost and special-order parts are more likely to require payment in advance.
Once a special-order component has been purchased, amounts paid toward that part may be nonrefundable if the supplier does not permit cancellation or return.
Our 60-Day Workmanship Warranty
We stand behind the work we perform.
Qualifying repairs include a 60-day limited workmanship warranty, unless otherwise stated on your invoice.
The warranty applies specifically to the repair performed by Clockworks Emporium and the problem that repair was intended to correct.
If the same problem occurs during the warranty period and is determined to be the result of our workmanship, we'll correct the workmanship issue without an additional labor charge.
The workmanship warranty does not cover unrelated mechanical failures, normal wear, failure of other aging components, damage from moving or improper setup, customer adjustments, work performed by another repairer, accidents, environmental damage, batteries or consumables, or other conditions unrelated to our original repair.
Parts Warranties
New replacement parts are covered by the manufacturer's or supplier's warranty, when one is provided. The terms and duration of those warranties are determined by the manufacturer or supplier.
With antique and discontinued clocks, sometimes a new replacement part simply isn't available.
If a customer approves the use of a used, refurbished, rebuilt, or new-old-stock component, that part may have a limited warranty or no parts warranty at all.
We'll explain available warranty information whenever reasonably possible before installation.
Antique Clocks Require a Little Understanding
Some clocks entrusted to us have been ticking for 50, 75, 100 years or longer.
Age gives these clocks their history and character, but it also means components can be worn, brittle, previously modified, or affected by repairs performed decades ago.
Repairing one problem does not mean every component within an antique clock has been restored or replaced.
We'll always treat your clock with reasonable care and provide the most realistic assessment we can of its condition and repair options.
Completed & Unclaimed Repairs
Customers are responsible for arranging payment and retrieval of completed clocks after notification.
A clock remaining unpaid and/or unclaimed for 90 days following the final invoice or completion notice may be considered abandoned, subject to applicable Tennessee law.
After any legally required notices or procedures have been satisfied, abandoned property may be sold or otherwise disposed of in an effort to recover unpaid labor, parts, storage, and service charges.
Have a Clock That Needs Attention?
Whether your grandfather clock has stopped chiming, your cuckoo has gone quiet, your musical clock isn't performing like it once did, or you've inherited an old clock and don't know where to begin, we'd be happy to take a look.
Our philosophy is simple:
Quality workmanship. Fair pricing. Clear communication. Personal service.
And above all, we understand that sometimes we're not simply repairing a clock.
We're preserving a memory.
